Avocado-choco mousse is a perfect summer treat.

Avocado-choco mousse

Hello, dear food lovers. It’s July, the World’s avocado month! Woohoo! For this occasion, I made an avocado-choco mousse. This amazing dessert is easy to make, incredibly rich in flavour, creamy and very healthy. Once you’ll try it, you’ll want more. It is heavenly good. And it’s perfect for the summer months.

I love avocados. In fact, by now, I became a real expert in finding a good avocado. I can tell if it’s ripe or not if it’s green or brown on the inside. Don’t you just hate it when you cut it and find a brownish part inside?! Bahh.

Moreover, I described many times „how to find a perfect avocado“. All you need is a good eye and a gentle touch. Just click on the link and read all the great tips. It is easy and you can do it, too. After you know how and where to look, you’ll find only green and healthy avocados.

Furthermore, do you know an avocado is also called the butter fruit? I can actually see why. It is smooth and it has a buttery consistency. In addition, it is rich in healthy fats. Therefore, it makes a perfect ingredient for the healthy avocado-choco mousse. It gives the right level of creaminess and fluffy texture.

How do you eat avocado?

Most of the time I eat it simply with a spoon. Maybe with a pinch of salt (yeah I love salt) and some lemon juice. Yummy. Besides, I also like to spread it on bread or avocado in a sandwich, of course, I like it in guacamole, smoothies and porridge. Avocado is a wonderful ingredient for soups, salsas and baked goods. And last but not least, it makes the creamiest avocado-choco mousse ever. Let me know your ideas for what to use it in the comments below.

What makes a mousse so creamy? Avocado!

So, why is the World’s avocado month only in July? Hmmm. This fruit is so healthy, delicious, extremely versatile and you can buy it all year long. So I will promote every day as World’s avocado day from now on. Wink.

Serve the avocado-choco mousse in espresso cups

Going back to the avocado-choco mousse, your smile will become bigger with every spoon. It is true. I put the mousse in espresso cups because I found them cute. It was so darn delicious, I wanted more and more. On one hand, I wanted a bottomless cup, but on the other hand, I enjoyed it slowly and appreciated it as it was.

Espresso cups are perfect for a dessert too.

By mixing a few basic ingredients, you’ll get a creamy and rich mousse. Unlike most mousse recipes, I didn’t use any sugar, eggs or cream. The rich choco flavour comes from the bitter cacao powder. The only sweet thing in it is honey. And that’s the only reason this avocado-choco mousse is not vegan. Still, I am sure, you can find a way around it.

Additionally, you can’t really tell it’s made out of avocado. People think it’s combined with banana. Oh my gosh, it’s so good. I made that „mmmm“ noise every time I tasted it. Wink. So you have to try this delicious summer dessert.

Ingredients for 4 espresso cups (filled over the edge) of avocado-choco mousse:

  • 2,5 avocados (ripe, peeled, pitted)
  • 4-5 Tbsp cacao powder (bitter)
  • 50 ml of almond milk
  • 3 drops of vanilla aroma
  • 1 Tbsp honey
  • a pinch of salt

This is going to be an extremely quick recipe.

First, prepare your blender or the immersion blender. Scoop out the avocado flesh and put all the ingredients in the blender’s glass and blend for 30 seconds or until smooth and creamy. Check that there is no sign of a green avocado left.

For richer choco consistency, use more cacao. As said, the only sweetener I used was honey. Now, you can use more or less of it. You can also substitute it with some other sweetener or not use any at all. It is up to you.

Avocado-choco mousse must in the fridge

Furthermore, place the avocado-choco mousse in the fridge. Yes, the mouse is ready. Simple as that. Or how PassionSpoon would say: „As easy as pie, but with love“. Wink. Leave it in the fridge for at least a couple of hours, in order to get a lovely firmer consistency.

Refrigerate the avocado-choco mousse for some hours in order to get a lovely rich consistency.

Finally, just before serving, take it out of the fridge and fill the cups. Don’t stop at the edge. Go higher! Believe me, you’ll want more of this rich, chocolaty, creamy and fluffy avocado-choco mousse. It is so perfect, you don’t need to add any toppings at all. Summer is still long, you have plenty of days to enjoy this healthy dessert.

Enjoy!
