Do you remember one of my favourite snacks? I made bacon-wrapped dates and bacon-wrapped avocado. They were both candylicious. Is that a word? Well, you get my point. Now, it is time for bacon-wrapped prunes! Oh boy, what a treat!
Imagine biting in a strip of crispy and salty bacon, followed by a soft and sweet dried plum. A dream! Your taste buds will jump and dance of joy. I used soft, dried plums, which you can find everywhere all year long. However, they fit perfectly to this festive period of the year. Also, they are a great and delicious contrast of sweet and savoury.
Surprise and success are guaranteed. Everyone will love them. In fact, how not to? They are like candies. Hehehe. They will become your new party appetizer!
Moreover, for creating these amazing snacks you only need two ingredients and you can make them in no time. Therefore, if you have nothing planned yet, simply follow the steps below.
Ingredients for 40 bacon-wrapped prunes:
- 20 bacon slices (cut in half)
- 40 dried plums (soft, pitted)
There are four steps to follow: cut, wrap, make the bacon crispy and eat. Easy, isn’t it? And I love the last step. Hehehe.
First, start with cutting the bacon stripes (length- or crosswise). The prunes are small and the whole slice would cover too much of the sweet flavour of the prune. Second, wrap each prune in one of the cut bacon slices.
Third, prepare a larger frying pan and put the prunes wrapped in bacon in. Try to place them with the cut end down, in order to seal that part first. Start with a cold pan and keep turning the bacon-wrapped prunes until crispy on all sides.
Surprise your friends with these delicious bacon-wrapped prunes on the New Year’s Eve. This will be your winning party appetizer. Enjoy them with some cream cheese, blue cheese and a glass of white wine.
Happy New Year!
