This smoothie variation will change your way of making smoothies. It’s a vegetable smoothie. I used a vegetable that is probably not so loved by many of you. I am talking about broccoli. Yes, I made a broccoli banana smoothie bowl.
Now, don’t make a grimace before even trying it. I was sceptical too at the beginning; worried about the smell and taste. But since you will need to freeze the broccoli, you don’t need to worry about the funny smell. To make the taste milder I added a banana and some almond milk. At the end I was nicely surprised.
Beat your brocco-phobia and try it.
Ingredients for 2:
- ½ of the broccoli head (frozen florets)
- 1 banana
- 1 Tbsp of peanut butter
- 200 ml of almond milk
Toppings:
- goji berries
- coconut chips
- quinoa pops
- strawberry mint leaves
- honey
Prepare your blender and pop in the banana, followed by half of the frozen florets, then the peanut butter, the rest of the broccoli and at the end the almond milk. Cover the glass and blend until you get a nice smooth consistency. Probably the frozen florets will stuck and you will have to stop in between to give it a little stir with a spoon. You can also add some honey or more banana or any other fruit will work as well.
Divide the mixture between two smoothie bowls. I topped it with crunchy coconut chips, red goji berries, small quinoa pops and sweet mint leaves. At the end I drizzled the broccoli banana smoothie with honey to add some more sweetness.
Enjoy!
