Marshmallow winter wonderland gin and tonic cocktail. A lovely and fun idea for a drink.

Marshmallow winter wonderland cocktail

An easy way to add style to your classic gin and tonic is to use marshmallows. Create a magic marshmallow winter wonderland cocktail with a fluffy marshmallow, a snowman, coconut flakes and fresh rosemary. A fun cocktail to enjoy not only during winter days.

The snow reached Hamburg, too. Finally, for the first time, this year or better said this winter (cos the new year is only 8 days old) it’s snowing. And what better occasion than that, for this snowy and packed with marshmallows gin and tonic.

It’s a normal, simple and ordinary gin and tonic yet presented in a fun and cute way. And I found the name “marshmallow winter wonderland” quite appropriate. Don’t you think? Wink. Snowy landscape, a cute snowman, snowflakes and a pine tree. How cute! Talking about winter, check out this Jack Frost vodka cocktail, as well.

Moreover, you can use any other alcohol/soda/juice of your choice to create this fun-looking cocktail. It doesn’t need to be gin and tonic, after all. But, make sure the liquids are clear. Like that you can really see the snowman and everything else. I mean, I wouldn’t pick a cocktail with a fruit puree or milk in it.

The ratio of gin and tonic water varies according to taste. Well, it’s always like that. If you want a strong cocktail, add more gin and vice versa. I love gin! Check out this gin & tonic recipe where I created clear ice cubes. So beautiful!

Furthermore, using marshmallows to “pimp up” your cocktail is a very creative and fun idea. Anyway, I rarely shop for marshmallows, if not ever. Last time I’ve bought them was five years ago when I used them for a cake.

Shopping for marshmallows was a big surprise. I’ve never seen so many different marshmallows. Consequently, I was very confused about which ones to buy. I was going back and forth from large, to small, to a smaller one to a mini-sized marshmallow.

In the end, I bought the big ones (around 5 cm) and the small ones (around 3 cm). I found the mini ones too small, though. Having said that, you can still cut them to make them fit. Wink. That’s what I did actually. So make sure, to buy the right marshmallow size, to fill up the entire bottom of your glass without moving.

Additionally, after some time the marshmallows will be infused with the cocktail. Get ready for even more fun. Wink.

Ingredients for a marshmallow winter wonderland cocktail:

  • 1 large marshmallow (around 5 cm)
  • 1 small marshmallow (around 2-3 cm)
  • a fresh rosemary sprig
  • shredded coconut flakes
  • 2 cloves
  • honey (for the rim)
  • gin (according to taste)
  • tonic water (according to taste)
  • a toothpick

To begin, wash the rosemary and put it on a paper towel to drain. Next, build your marshmallow snowman. To do that, cut the small marshmallow in half and cut one-third of the other half off. Now you have three different sized pieces, along with the large marshmallow.

In order to create the marshmallow snowman, pile the three pieces (which you just cut) on top of each other, starting with the bigger one at the bottom and push a toothpick through all of them. The toothpick should be looking out only at the bottom. More, using two cloves, create the hands. Push in one clove on each side of the middle piece of the snowman.

At this point, push the large marshmallow to the bottom of the glass (make sure it remains fixed at the bottom without moving). Then, lightly apply some honey on the rim of the glass and “dip” the rim into the shredded coconut flakes. As next, place the snowman onto the big marshmallow by pushing from the top until the toothpick disappears.

Last but not least, add the rosemary sprig, by pushing it into the big marshmallow until stable. After everything is in its place, pour in the gin (one third), followed by tonic water (two thirds). Stop one finger before the top.

Finally, your marshmallow winter wonderland cocktail is complete. Wink. If you wish you can sprinkle some more coconut flakes on top. This is a cute and fun cocktail to sip on a snowy day while watching a movie, tucked under a warm blanket.

Enjoy!
