I was home alone and since we don’t eat fish so often (somebody doesn’t like fish), I thought it was a good moment to make some fish dish. I had some tuna in a jar, so all I needed was something that goes well with it. Pasta! Spaghetti! I love pasta. Don’t you? It’s quick and easy to make and it always makes your tummy full.
For one portion of spaghetti you will need:
- 1 Tsp of olive oil
- 80 g spaghetti
- 1 clove of garlic
- 1 chili (small)
- 2 Tsp of rocket pesto
This dish takes as long as the pasta needs to be cooked. So it is super fast. Put some water to boil. At the same time start chopping the garlic and the chili. You can keep the seeds if you like it really spicy. Take a pan, put in the olive oil and heat it. Then add the garlic and chili and stir-fry them for a couple of minutes until the garlic starts releasing its aroma. After that, remove the pan from the stove.
When the water starts to boil, throw in the pasta. I chose spaghetti, but feel free to choose any pasta you most like. Cook the pasta for ca 7 minutes, with occasional stirring. You have to taste the pasta to know if it is ready or not. If the pasta feels firm but not crunchy, it means it is cooked al dente. Perfect! The other way to check if the pasta is cooked al dente is to cut it in half and if there’s a miniature white dot (that is the uncooked pasta) it means it’s good. Now drain the pasta and put it back in the pot.
Add 2 spoons of pesto and mix with a wooden spoon. I didn’t add any olive oil because the pesto already contains it and like that it will prevent the pasta from sticking.
Time to put everything in the plate. Put the pasta first. Try to twist it with a fork for a nicer look. Then add the tuna pieces. I just took them from the jar and place them on the pasta. The tuna was in olive oil, so it adds a nice flavour and moist to the dish. At the end add the garlic and chili.
Enjoy!
