Golden milk overnight oats

Golden milk overnight oats are a practical way to make breakfast. This fashionable combination of oats, milk, turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, honey, nuts, berries and fruits keeps you full, young and healthy. It’s a great start to the day.

Just in time for the cold season I have a perfect breakfast idea for you. Are you ready to swap your classic breakfast with a healthy bowl? I am sure you’ve heard of golden milk before. Maybe you know it from the cafe next door or the health food store. Or perhaps you’ve seen it on Instagram. However, you can check my golden milk recipe, too. Look at that vibrant yellow hue. Gorgeous. Wink.

What is golden milk? That’s milk sweetened with honey and flavoured with spices like turmeric, cinnamon and ginger. It is very fashionable and popular. But, what’s even hotter? Golden milk overnight oats! Healthy, easy, gorgeous and quick to prepare.

This might sound fancy, and very complex, but it’s really nothing more than rolled oats infused with hot milk of your choice and spices. The amazing thing about this breakfast is, that you prepare it the evening before and the only thing you have to do in the morning is choosing your toppings. For instance, you can decorate it with all kinds of berries, apples, pears, bananas, persimmon and any kind of nuts.

I picked raspberries, a sweet pear and a clementine. As a crunch, I toasted some hazelnuts and added salted pecans as well. Pecans remind me of walnuts, but they taste sweeter and dryer. Both pecans and hazelnuts are also rich in fibre and monosaturated fatty acids.

Raspberries, clementine and pear make a lovely and healthy topping for a winter porridge.

Rolled oats, nuts and fruits are always a great combination. You might like these recipes too: overnight oats and chia pudding or these healthy apple oatmeal crispy slices.

Besides being delicious and a great fulfilling breakfast it also has health-promoting effects. Soaking the oats overnight improves digestion. The mix of added spices has anti-inflammatory benefits. Honey and fruits are added for sweetness to balance all of the flavours.

Then, pour the hot milk over the rolled oats, stir and allow them to cool down. Place the two bowls into the refrigerator overnight.

The following day, allow the oats to come to room temperature. Finally, top the golden milk overnight oats with raspberries, sliced pear, clementine and the remaining nuts.

Enjoy.
