Onion fig salad

Onion fig salad

The cold days are knocking at our doors and what feels better than a soul-warming dish. Yes, I know a warm dish and salad don’t really go together. Just give it a try; read, make, taste and eat. You will love it. You will love this onion fig salad. It is sweet and fruity. And with some cheese on top, it is just unbelievable.

The ingredients for the onion fig salad are:

  • 4 big onions
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 2 slices of Brie cheese
  • 3 small tomatoes
  • 2 figs
  • a bunch of parsley
  • olive oil
  • salt and pepper

Prepare a big pan on the stove with some olive oil in it. The first to go in the pan are onions and garlic. Chop and put them in a preheated pan. Add some salt and pepper, occasionally give it a stir and cover the pan. When the onions start to get soft and transparent, turn off the heat and leave it covered.

Wash the tomatoes and figs. You can cut the tomatoes in quarters or only in halves if you prefer. You can also use cherry tomatoes.

The skin of some figs can sometimes taste bitter. I like to peel them. But if you have your own fig tree you don’t need to peel them, for sure. After that cut them into quarters.

Take a serving dish and put the onions with tomatoes and cheese slices on it. I got Brie cheese with garlic, but you can choose any cheese you like. At the end add the sweet figs. That will give an extra kick to the dish. Then chop the parsley and sprinkle it all over the dish.

Sweet onion, juicy tomato, sweet fig, creamy cheese and aromatic parsley. What a great onion fig salad!

Enjoy!
